PARTICIPATORY PLACES

Participatory Melbourne; removing barriers to participation

Participatory Melbourne is a new partnership with Menzies Foundation, Regen Melbourne, Swinburne University/Australian Leadership Index and the Coalition of Everyone (CoE). We are working together to build a leadership movement in service to Melbourne’s regeneration.

The purpose of Participatory Melbourne is to collaboratively build experiments and scale solutions that generate citizens’ agency, promote regenerative democracy, increase trust and inspire community leadership.

REGEN PLACES NETWORK

Growing a network of place-based alliances for the regeneration of cities, towns and bioregions.

Coalition of Everyone (CoE) is a co-founding organisation of Regen Melbourne and Regen Sydney, and with WWF Australia. We're also supporting other people in other places across Australia and New Zealand by convening a Regen Places learning network.

Regen Places is a growing network of place-based alliances focused on building the social infrastructure and capacity for places to initiate community-led projects and enterprises for the regeneration of cities, towns and bioregions across Australia and further.

The goal of Regen Places is to promote region-specific solutions and create thriving communities forging equitable and decolonised global social relationships, where we are all thriving within our planetary boundaries.

EARTH EQUITY NETWORK

Partnering business with Nature for bioregional regeneration

Earth Equity is an alternative business model structure inspired by Aotearoa/New Zealand’s environmental personhood movement, including the Te Awa Tupua Act of 2017 granting the Whanganui River legal personhood status.

It has three core pillars;

  • Ownership, via nature & purpose,

  • Governance, via nature on the board, and

  • Finance, via models that include nature and future generations.

Giving Nature a voice, legal rights and a bank account.

DEMOCRATISING REGENERATION METHODOLOGY

ABC REGEN:
Assembling bioregional community-led regeneration

An acronym for Assembling Bioregional Community-led Regeneration, ABC Regen is a model to catalyse participatory, place based governance. At the heart of this six-part series of assemblies are deliberations to deepen social and ecological custodianship.

ABC Regen builds upon our participatory R&D to engage with human and ecological dynamics in an interconnected manner. The model aims to:

  • Cultivate participatory processes that give voice to the living world;

  • Make visible the relationality that exists between human and non-human systems; and

  • Enable communities to organise innovative projects and alliances around the carrying capacities of their bioregional places.

The ABC Regen methodology designing for bioregional community-led governance has been developed alongside our partners in the Wararack community in Central Victoria. It was resourced through the WWF Australia Innovate to Regenerate Challenge, towards Regenerating Australia.
